Planet O-live Pillars

PILLAR 1

For an agriculture that respects the planet

We believe that productivity and sustainability can coexist as drivers of economic returns and product quality. For example, sustainable olive growing practices that involve better or lower use of pesticides have a positive impact on the quality of the product, biodiversity and costs.

PARTNERSHIPS FOR SUSTAINABLE OLIVE GROWING

By 2030 more than 1 million trees will be managed more sustainably, planted or recovered, thanks to partnerships inside and outside the Avril Group.

We will invest and create partnerships inside and outside the Avril Group to spread the Planet O-live Academy's sustainable agricultural practices by planting and/or recovering olive trees with the goal of impacting more than 1 million plants, reducing impacts compared to traditional agriculture.

Objectives

PROTECTING BIODIVERSITY

Preserve and recover biodiversity by promoting lower use of pesticides in olive growing.

Through the Planet O-live Academy we are working to promote a scientific approach that ensures the use of fewer and fewer chemicals in olive growing and only when necessary. In 2023 we will begin this journey by launching the 1st oil in Italy certified to have zero pesticide residues, with even higher standards of quality, safety and biodiversity.

Objectives

PLANET O-LIVE ACADEMY

Obtain the signature of our "OLIVE OIL CHARTER" by 100% of our supplier by 2025 and create the "Sustainable Production Manifesto" by 2024.

In 2022, we founded the Planet O-live Academy: the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies - Pisa, UniPG, Confagricoltura, and Assoprol came together to define guidelines for a more virtuous cultivation and production and to involve farmers in sustainable olive growing. The goal is to work together on a "Sustainable Production Manifesto " and reach 1 million people by 2030.
